Regional Advisory Committee (R. A. C.)

 

           The Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) is constituted by the Commissioner to assist the Central Excise Administration and the trade & industry in sorting out various problems faced by the trade and industry in their workings and growth as also in better tax administration. This Committee comprises of the senior officials of the Central Excise as also distinguished designated members of the Trade & Industry. 

The Functions of the Committee

The functions of the R. A. C. are purely advisory in nature and the committee is intended for resolving the procedural difficulties of a general nature. The Committee can, however, discuss any material including the policy behind individual cases but excluding individual cases themselves and all judicial and semi judicial matters.

Life Period of the Committee

The present Committee so constituted as above shall function for the block year of 2005-06  i.e. for a period of  two(2) years  and the term of office of each member nominated, shall likewise be for a period of 2 years.

Meeting of the Committee

The Committee may ordinarily meet once in Three months or as often as the Chairman may decide. The meeting may be held at the Commissionerate Hqrs. or at some other trade centre in the Commissionerate.

The Members of R. A. C. Committee

The constitution  of the present RAC consisting of members from Small Scale Industries (SSI) Sector, Organized Sector and the Service Tax Sector was  duly notified by the Trade notice No. 21/2005 dated 15th June, 2005.
